This mushroom sculpture is formed from 304/316 stainless steel in two distinct sections, a twisted, mirror-polished stem that supports a rounded cap fabricated with an extensive network of hollow-cut perforations. The stem's gentle torsion is achieved through careful forming and welding to maintain a smooth, continuous curve from base to cap, while the cap itself is welded together from cut steel sections that leave deliberate gaps for both visual openwork effect and for housing an integrated LED lighting system within the hollow interior. During daylight hours the polished stem and perforated cap present an elegant sculptural silhouette, but after dark the embedded LED source transforms the entire cap into a glowing lantern-like form, with light spilling outward through every perforation to create a soft, dappled pattern on the surrounding ground and foliage.
