This sculpture is assembled in one piece from matte-finished 304/316 stainless steel, arranging multiple layers of streamlined leaf-shaped forms along a curved boat-shaped hull structure, an unusual combination requiring the individual leaf panels to be cut, curved, and positioned at carefully varied angles along the hull so the finished composition reads clearly as both a boat and a collection of layered leaves simultaneously rather than favoring one reading over the other. The matte surface finish, applied uniformly across both the hull and the layered leaf panels, gives the piece a soft, understated metallic quality distinct from the brighter mirror-polished pieces elsewhere in the collection.
